What to Expect
Homeopathy works holistically and treats each person as a unique individual. As well as getting a thorough understanding of your concerns, I also want to find out about all the things that make you you! This includes who you are as a person, your likes and dislikes, as well as what you want homeopathy to help you with.
Before we meet, I will email you a Homeopathy Intake Form to gather some basic information about any health conditions or diagnosis that you or your parents/grand-parents may have had. It’s really helpful if you e-mail this before the consultation, but you can bring it with you if we have a face to face consultation.
Consultations can be arranged in person at one of my clinics, or on WhatsApp or Skype.
The first consultation usually lasts around one and half to two hours, after which I will prescribe a remedy that is the best match for your whole picture. Sometimes I know at your appointment which remedy I should prescribe; sometimes I may need to go away and research the next steps – I want to make the right choice of the 5,000 remedies that are available to us and I may need to order the remedy in. This may take up to a week before the remedy gets to you depending on the post!
Homeopathic medicines are usually taken as tablets or pillules, or they may be given in liquid or powder form. I will always explain to you at the consultation how to take the remedy and I also send you instructions as a reminder.
It’s important to say that I offer alternative healthcare and I always recommend people continue their relationship with their doctor. Homeopathy works well alongside conventional medication, and I also advise that any changes to prescribed medication should be agreed with your doctor.
“Life is a Journey, not a destination.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
I like to check in with you at about 2 weeks after you’ve taken the remedy – this will only take 5/10 minutes, just to see how you are doing. You can drop me an e-mail or WhatsAPP message if you prefer. It is helpful if you keep notes of any changes that you notice.
Most people need one consultation and 2 follow-ups as a minimum. Then we will have an idea of where you are in your journey to better health. People vary in how often they see me – some dip in and out according to health needs. Other meet regularly with me to keep their health and well-being optimal.
Follow up consultations usually take place around four to six weeks later and are a little shorter, lasting 30 minutes to an hour. Follow-ups are an opportunity to talk in depth about any changes that have occurred. I then decide on the next stage of the treatment plan and may need to fine tune the prescription.
As you progress, follow up consultations may be spread further apart to six weeks, two months, and so on. Many people like to maintain a regular contact with their homeopath, booking an appointment every six months or so, using homeopathy as a ‘preventive medicine’, so that optimum health can be maintained, and any symptoms are addressed quickly.
If an acute illness arises more than one month after your last appointment with me then I charge £15 for acute support. This can be in person, online or by telephone.
I am fully insured by the Society of Homeopaths. I am also a member of the Society of Homeopaths and the Travelling Homeopaths Collective (a registered charity which supports registered homeopaths to provide healthcare to people attending outdoor events, festivals and gatherings).
